Because Victoria Gothic source mainly vintage bags and purses, it's to be expected that they will not all be in mint condition. Whilst we try our best to clean and restore all of our products, it's inevitable that there may still be some visible wear and tear. Anything we consider noteworthy will be mentioned in the product description and shown in the photos, but we won't be able to identify every minor mark, scuff or scratch. We ask that you embrace these little imperfections, like we do, as part of the products history and journey so far. Prices will reflect any imperfections, along with style, age and rarity of the piece. Please look at all photos and read the descriptions thoroughly before making your purchase.
If you need to return an item due to a defect that has occured during transit or after receipt, that isn't your fault, please refer to our returns section.
A very common problem when it comes to vintage items, is that they sometimes leak a little dust. Sometimes a lot of dust! This is due to the aging of the internal materials used to make the products. Over time, lining and foam backing can deteriorate and whilst this might not affect the appearance or use of the product, it may need a little care. If there is a lot of dust and you are concerned, please get in touch, otherwise you can treat this by gently vacuuming in and around the bag to remove leaked dust and give the bag a wipe over with a duster or wet cloth depending on the material it's made from. Leather wipes are a good choice for leather goods as this will clean and protect at the same time.
Over time and heavy usage you may think your bag/purse starts to look a little less vibrant. Keep up the cleaning routine by gently wiping it over with a suitable cloth. If you want your etched design on your leather bag/purse to stand out again, after cleaning with a leather wipe, rub over the design with a little colour appropriate leather polish. Make sure you remove any excess polish, as this may rub off on clothing. Do not do this on suede or fabric bags, or any hand-painted designs.
To conclude, if you have purchased an item from us, it is highly likely to be very old, older than yourself, so we suggest treating each piece with TLC. Each item is very unique and always one of a kind. That's why we provide certificates with each item. You may want to cherish it or you may want to sell it on one day, so treat it well and keep the certificate safe so you can prove it's a genuine Victoria Gothic! Hopefully all our bags and purses will be around and enjoyed for many more years.
